Everything You Need to Know Before You Arrive
You’ve registered for Camp Nan A Bo Sho — now what? This page has just about everything families need to prepare for a great camp experience. From packing lists and parent information packets to transportation, health forms, and staying connected, you’ll find it all here. All camp communication is done by email — please make sure you have a valid email on file and check it regularly.

Parent Information Packets Packing Lists
Start here. Your parent information packet has all the details specific to your program. Then use the packing list to make sure your camper arrives ready for everything camp has to offer.
Parent Information Packets
Please download and review the packet for your specific program. These packets include all the details you need for your camper’s Camp Nan A Bo Sho experience.
- General Resident Camp
- Family Fun Weekend
- Summer Daze
Packing Lists
Packing for camp can be exciting — but gathering everything you need can feel overwhelming. Use the packing list for your program to make preparation easy. If you see something on the list you don’t have, let us know. We may have equipment or clothing your camper can borrow while at camp. Please note: Do not send any electronics, gum, candy, or snacks. These items are not allowed at camp.
Staying Connected
“No news is good news” is an old adage that applies to camp too! Here are your options for staying in touch with your camper while they’re at Camp Nan A Bo Sho.
Letters & Care Packages
Send letters or care packages to your camper at the following address:
Camper Name
Program Name
Camp Nan A Bo Sho
18369 Okonto Ln.
Lakewood, WI 54138
Care packages are a great opportunity to send fun activities or games the cabin can enjoy together — card games, toys, books, stickers, temporary tattoos, and puzzles.
Please note: no food items are allowed due to potential allergies and concerns about insects and animals in the cabins. If food or candy is sent, we will keep it safe for pickup at the end of the session.
Tips for letters and emails
Always be positive and encouraging. Ask specific questions about their camp experience. Focus on what they’re doing at camp rather than how much you miss them. Include a photo or a puzzle/word search for FOB time. Encourage them to write letters home — campers do not have access to phones or computers.
Bunk Notes (Email Service)
Camp Nan A Bo Sho has partnered with Bunk One to offer a one-way email service for camp families. Bunk Notes are printed once daily and delivered to the counselor’s mailbox for distribution later in the day.
Notes sent after 10:00 AM will be delivered the next day.
Please note that Bunk Notes sent after 10:00 AM on Thursdays or anytime on Fridays may not be delivered before campers depart. We print and distribute 50–100 Bunk Notes every day — please combine all communication from one family into a single email when possible. For siblings at camp, send separate letters/emails.
Registration instructions and the Camp Nan A Bo Sho-specific code can be found in the Bunk 1 directions document.
Travel, Spending Money & Cabin Requests
A few more things to take care of before your camper arrives.
Travel & Transportation
You are always welcome to drive your camper directly to camp. The camp address is:
18369 Okonto Ln.
Lakewood, WI 54138.
More detailed driving directions are available in your program’s Parent Information Packet. Bus service is also available. Please see the bus schedule for your program.
Bus service requires a separate registration and fee, which must be completed prior to your arrival at the bus stop. Camp Nan A Bo Sho staff chaperone all buses.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure to allow time for loading luggage. Upon return from camp, campers will be released from the bus after their parent or guardian’s ID has been verified.
Spending Money at Camp (The Trading Post)
The Trading Post is our small camp store, open during designated times each week. Campers can purchase items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, stuffed animals, friendship bracelets, flashlights, journals, small toys, and more.
We recommend $20–$50 for a one-week session. You can add money to your camper’s account using the Camp Store registration option in our registration system, or directly at camp using cash, check, or credit card.
All campers check their money into the Trading Post upon arrival and each have an individual account to charge against.
No money should be kept in the cabin — the Y is not responsible for lost or stolen money.
Any balance over $5 will be returned in cash after breakfast on the day of departure.
Camper Cabin Requests
We encourage campers to make new friends, but if they’d prefer to room with someone they know, here are the guidelines:
- Each camper may make ONE cabin request. If more than one name is submitted, only the first name will be honored.
- The request must be mutual — both campers must submit each other’s name.
- Both campers must be attending the same program.
- Requests must be received at least two weeks before the start of the session.
- To make a request, email both camper names, the camp session, and program name to gro.seiticxofacmy@ohsobananpmac.
- We cannot guarantee all requests and will contact you before the session if we are unable to accommodate yours.
Health Care & CampDoc
Your camper’s health and safety are our top priority. Here’s what you need to know about medical care at camp and completing your CampDoc profile.
CampDoc Access
Camp Nan A Bo Sho uses CampDoc, a secure online forms system, to collect camper health and history information. CampDoc access will be emailed to you 1–2 weeks after you register. Some email services block this welcome email — please check your spam/junk folder before contacting us.
Log in at campdoc.com using the email and password established at account creation.
Once logged in, you will see a checklist of items to complete at least one week before your camper’s session begins:
- General Information
- Camper Information & Insurance
- Health History
- Allergies
- Medications
- Immunizations
- Diet & Activity
- Emergency Contacts
- Healthcare Providers
- Authorizations
Medical Care & Medications
- Our health center is staffed by certified medical staff. A clinic and hospital are located approximately 45 minutes from camp.
- Parents and guardians will be notified if their child needs treatment at a hospital or clinic, stays overnight in the health center, or is evacuated from a trail experience for medical reasons.
- All medications should be packed in your camper’s luggage and will be checked into the health center during opening-day check-in.
- Only send OTC medications your camper takes regularly.
- All prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy container with the correct name, date, and instructions on the bottle — we will not administer improperly labeled prescriptions.
- We also accept age-appropriate multivitamins, melatonin, probiotics, calcium, and other vitamins (please check age requirements).
- We recommend bringing inhalers for any child who has been prescribed one, even if they haven’t used it recently — many campers have increased need during camp.
- All campers and staff are required to comply with Wisconsin state immunization requirements for school entry or complete an immunization waiver.
Payments & Financial Assistance
We believe every child deserves a camp experience. Here’s how our pricing works — and how we can help if cost is a concern.
Our Pricing Structure
You do not need to be a YMCA of the Fox Cities member to attend Camp Nan A Bo Sho — though Y members receive a reduced price. Y memberships must remain active from the time of registration through the completion of the camp program to receive member pricing.
Camp Nan A Bo Sho uses a voluntary three-range personal pricing structure to accommodate all financial needs. The range you choose does not influence the quality of your child’s experience. Please consider selecting the highest range your family can afford.
- Range 1 — Most accurately reflects the true cost of camp, including wear and depreciation.
- Range 2 — A partially subsidized rate.
- Range 3 — Our historically standard rate, which does not reflect the true cost of camp. This rate is subsidized through fundraising, special events, and sustaining contributions.
Deposits & Payment
A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration.
Resident and day camp programs require a $125 non-refundable deposit.
Family camp programs require a $50/person non-refundable deposit.
Remaining balances are due two weeks prior to the first day of camp and will be withdrawn automatically using the payment method on file.
If you need a personalized payment plan, please contact us at gro.seiticxofacmy@ohsobananpmac.
Financial Assistance
We believe all children deserve a camp experience and that cost should never be a barrier. Financial assistance is available through generous donors to the YMCA of the Fox Cities Annual Campaign. We encourage any family with financial need to apply.
Cancellation Policy
- If you cancel more than two weeks before the session start date, your cost will be refunded minus the $125 non-refundable deposit.
- If you cancel within two weeks of the session start date, Camp Nan A Bo Sho will retain 100% of the session fee.
- In the event of dismissal due to misconduct or withdrawal due to homesickness, Camp Nan A Bo Sho will retain 100% of the session fee.
- All pre-order t-shirt and sweatshirt sales are refundable through April 30. After May 1, all sales are final.
- In the event Camp Nan A Bo Sho cancels a program due to low enrollment, the $125 deposit and any fees paid are transferrable to another camp program within the same summer or are fully refundable.
