Where Kids Fall in Love with Sports
At the Y, we believe sports are about more than winning or losing — they’re about learning, growing, and having fun. Our youth sports classes offer kids a unique opportunity to explore the world of sports while building character, self-confidence, and healthy relationships with peers and teammates. Our focus is on skill development and teaching the fundamentals of each game, ensuring that every child develops a lifelong love for sports from the very beginning. Classes are available for ages 3 and up at multiple Y locations across the Fox Cities.

Our Classes
We offer two class levels — Preschool and Youth — at four Y locations throughout the Fox Cities. Whether your child is just discovering sports or already building on early skills, there’s a class that fits where they are right now.
Preschool Sports Classes — Ages 3–4
Introduce your little ones to the world of sports with our preschool sports classes, designed for children ages 3–4. These classes emphasize fun, playful exploration and give young children their first positive experiences with movement, teamwork, and athletic activity. There’s no pressure — just play, discovery, and smiles. Offered at the Appleton YMCA, Fox West YMCA, Heart of the Valley YMCA, and Neenah-Menasha YMCA.
Youth Sports Classes — Ages 5 and Up
Our youth sports classes are perfect for children ages 5 and up — whether your child is new to sports or already developing a love for the game. Classes are designed to build sport-specific skills, reinforce fundamentals, and give kids the confidence to participate and grow. You’ll find a class to pique their interest and set them up for success. Offered at the Appleton YMCA, Fox West YMCA, Heart of the Valley YMCA, and Neenah-Menasha YMCA.
What Youth Sports Classes Build
Our classes are about more than the game — they’re about shaping the kind of young people the Y has always believed in. Here’s what every child gains.
Sport-Specific Skills
Every class teaches the fundamentals of the sport — proper technique, positioning, and game knowledge that serve players for years to come.
Self-Confidence
Learning new skills, improving, and succeeding on the field or court builds the kind of confidence that carries into every part of a child’s life.
Teamwork
Sports are one of the best classrooms for teamwork. Kids learn to communicate, support each other, and work toward a common goal.
Character
Our coaches emphasize the Y’s core values — caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility — so every child leaves a better teammate and person.
Love of the Game
When sports are fun and taught the right way, kids come back. Our goal is to give every child a reason to fall in love with being active for life.
Ready to Play in a League?
Once your child has built confidence and skills in our classes, Youth Sports Leagues are the natural next step. Leagues give kids the chance to apply what they’ve learned in friendly, structured competition against peers — all with the Y’s supportive, values-driven approach. Select youth sports leagues are also FREE with a YMCA of the Fox Cities Family Membership.
