Youth and teen fitness programs at the Y give young people the opportunity to learn proper exercise technique, explore new equipment, discover creative workout ideas, and build healthy habits that last a lifetime — all while having fun and making friends. Whether your child wants to learn the basics of the wellness center, join a high-energy Synergy class with friends, or find calm through yoga, we have a program to match their interests and energy. Our Y locations welcome youth members with age-appropriate access, safe instruction, and a supportive environment designed just for them.



Our Youth Fitness Programs
Three programs, one goal — helping young people discover a love for movement and build the confidence and habits that carry into adulthood.
Youth Wellness Center Orientations
We want every young person to have the opportunity to work out and be healthy.
Y members ages 8–13 who complete a Youth Wellness Center Orientation are welcome to use our wellness center with a supervising adult age 16 or older. Orientations cover wellness center safety and etiquette, as well as proper use of cardio and circuit weight equipment.
Age-Specific Guidelines:
- Ages 8–10: Cardio machines under direct supervision.
- Ages 11–13: Cardio machines, circuit weight equipment, and free weight area with direct supervision.
- Ages 14+: Cardio machines, circuit weight equipment, and free weight area.
Special note: Ages 7–13 may use the Fit Zone at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA without supervision after completing a Fit Zone orientation.

Youth & Teen Synergy
Get a group of friends together and join one of our Synergy Small Group Training classes created just for youth and teens! These high-energy, 30-minute full-body workouts are led by certified trainers in a fun and supportive group setting.
An unlimited class option is available — visit the Member Services desk at your nearest Y for details.
Youth Yoga
Each week, children ages 5–10 enjoy a yoga class designed to give them tools to calm themselves, focus, and feel good in their bodies. Classes incorporate age-appropriate yoga poses, creative movement, breathing exercises, games, mindfulness activities, and relaxation — making yoga a joyful and accessible experience for kids. Class ages and times vary by location.

Frequently Asked Questions
Y members ages 8 and up may use the wellness center after completing a Youth Wellness Center Orientation. Ages 8–13 require a supervising adult age 16 or older. Youth ages 14 and up may use the wellness center independently.
